Balance ...that's the key
Balance in worklife.. excellence touted...yet mediocrity rules...
Balance in homelife..
Balance in self.
Stopping to take notice is also the key.
I'm starting to take notice.
It's easy to lose your way.. yielding to the life demands and failing to embrace the subtle enjoyments along the way while also losing sight of your own personal goals. I struggle with trying to do my very best..striving for excellence in my approaches...yet the culture I work in currently prefers mediocrity... not a good fit. I am learning to let go of some old approaches and learning to develop some new ones to meet the challenges I face in a new manner.
Clearly having friends/family around to share woe , happiness , and fear help open us to opportunities that we have not thought of. Friends help you move through an obstacle and see clearly. And a flavourful martini gathering, here and there... helps along the way!!
I've been recently, acutely, aware that this has become a world of acronyms. No one uses the full name that the acronym represents and we sound like robots........ It depersonalizes the reason the thing had a name in the first place.. and it serves to alienate those who aren't in the "circle" of knowing what the acronym represents. Is that the purpose? I understand the need to shorten the long....involved titles..into a quick reference.. yet I see it's out of control and people are becoming "numbed" out.. by this method of communication.
I was recently at a conference in Newfoundland, and every 3rd word was an acronym and I was concentrating so much on what those could stand for...I missed the gist of the statement being made...if there was one.
I eventually began ignoring the acronyms and tried to see if the presentation had clear direction and impact. It sort of worked, but I was left feeling disturbed that I wasn't in the loop of the new language...nor could I find it referenced, easily...afterward.
Maybe this is the new language?
Hey...new scrabble words, perhaps?..
It's frustrating to me...that in business excellence is touted ...yet mediocrity rules.... sigh.. and the "humanistic" essence is lost.

very interesting my pal
no more SB or JKB or LS or LC or LUV or FU.... LOL....ooops
Good observation...
I think in a common group that understands what the acronym describes, it works.
It's when new people are also receiving a message, from the group, that the time must be taken to explain the acronym ..to help them engage. Or conversely.. disengage. L
