I came home from shopping today and both Sadie and Whitey greeted me on the back porch. Whitey is a ferral cat who's adopted us...we always seem to get one a summer! This guy is war-torn....ripped nose, puffed cheek, bite marks galore... he was full of worms, fleas and mites... I've methodically de-wormed him...de-fleaed him and am now working on the de-miting...issue...although sticking something into a cat's ears takes much trust...of each other!!
Whitey has a wonderful deposition and as you can see our cats think he's part of the fam already.
He's been a part of the neighbourhood now for at least 7 years...and this year he looked like he could use a friend. I believe he is our outside cat...although he does go to other homes for a visit during his day.
I do love these little folks.. and sometime I'll get him neutered too...
PS. when Whitey first started getting fed here, he'd jot in and out of the stairs, porch..and really didn't want contact at all. Ate fast..gulping and left. Now over the past 5 months...he lets me pat his back, stomach and also pick him up for a brief cuddle... he talks now...prrt, prrt... just a bit... and has initiated a rub on my legs without prompting... Of course I scrub my hands, arms after our contact moments...just in case.
Oh, and he has also taken to arriving twice a day ..am and pm which coincides with our awakening and end of day rituals!!.. smart cat.
