BC trip continued

Day 2: onward from Saltspring Island..in the afternoon, we took the ferry from Vesuvious and headed over to Crofton on Van Island to drive up to Nanaimo to catch the ferry to Gabriola Island.

Here we stayed at a wonderful B&B overlooking the Strait of Georgia... the B&B was called "The Inn at Dragon's head". This refurbished 40's hotel had 14 bedrooms and a wonderful view. I sat and read my "Shooting Water" book , Leslie loaned me, and watched J climb all over the rock clifts. Not many tourists on the islands due to the canadian dollar value and the fact that many USA'ers think a passport is needed NOW....it's not until the end of 2006
The water was approximately 60' below...but it's hard to show this in the photo's.
Kayakers, cruise ships, seals, sailboats, ferries all passed by and the mountains were very visible..thru the haze. Gabriola was a special island, less commercial and more lovely winding roads. Nice folks live here.

Jannah climbed into one of the washed away caverns..this was a sandstone paradise very calming.

Jannah found many creatures to examine
this fish was in the seaweed. I've forgotten it's name...

This lovely green crab was one of many found. Posted by Picasa
