Next, planning to scrape, prime and paint front of building...

Everything is so DRY...with the 32C temps and no RAIN... The Hosta's live on!!
I also must come up with a creative window dressing...as this one is very old..
Jannah offered her thoughts on what approach I could take...which I will consider.

Semi-detached homeowners must blend tastes together...and agree on changes. My neighbour and I try to listen to each other's idea's to build a "look" we both can live with.

Since I've mostly turned our front yard into plant matter...it looks green this year..yet the grass is horrid and brown. Did I say..No rain??

We are searching for a colour scheme that will liven up the old building...yet not embarass the other neighbours. ....

So far we know that the trim must be white... A white steel door is to be installed on our side later this month...

We've kicked around..."New England Brick"..colour for "poles" and cedar shakes on my roof edge and Gwynda's porch side... and "inviting Veranda"..warm beige...for the wall,(my porch side) inside Gwynda's inside porch... the triangle will hold both colours.

We'd like to enhance the triangle that is the centre point of the building on the porch and it actually has a relief wood design in it that we think needs toning.. We've also thought about "Daybreak Sun" yellow...for my wallside..and accents...with a "Fox Hill" Sand colour...for poles etc... I want a program for my computer that will let me play with the colour schemes on my house!!

Any Idea's for colour schemes are gratefully accepted... for consideration!!!

I'm in the midst of de-grassing my walkway...and can only work in short bursts... very HOT
Stay tuned... Posted by Picasa

Hmmm colours colours. Do you want both sides of the semi to be the same colours? I think I heard somewhere (or did I make it up?) that we should have 3 colours on the exterior in addition to the house colour. The bricks have a reddish colour to them...so this is what I would do. A soft neutral colour for around the windows - anywhere from warm white to a creamy or beige colour that "goes with" the bricks. Then a deeper colour, but not too dark for the flashing (is that what the flat part is called under the eaves?) along the front of the porch at the top, and basically anything that isn't windows and not porch. Then the big contrast for the porch & pillars and both pillars would look good the same colour even though the other piller is sort of built-over. Looking from a distance, it would be good (I think anyway) if both sides of the porch are treated the same, even though they are a bit different. Colours for the contrast? Hmmm. Nothing green - there is a lot of green from the plants. You have a cold white winter...so definitely something warm and rich...an "oxblood red" or something like that? Pick up the exterior colour pamphlets from all the paint companies and check out the colours they have used on their promo shots. Walk around the town and see what you like. Do you want to stand out or blend in? And having said all that...I don't know anything about decorating lol.

P.S. And next door needs to, at least, find somewhere else for the recycling boxes; and then perhaps put a nice big planter of annuals in the front. Your front is lush and pretty. I'll try and find the site that has houses from The Beaches...great ideas for colours there.
