Tonight was the air show in Wiarton...which means we get to see the show from our porches... We heard them well before they were seen.
10 of those Canadian Snowbirds acrobatic planes in unison...5' apart flying at a good clip, high in the air. Doing loop-de-loops and zooming in at right angles only to meet in the middle and in formation.... kinda creepy actually.
Bruce and I ate supper and watched the show... for free!!
These are the benefits of being in a small community.... connections
happen...even in the sky above us...
Jannah said last year that when WestJet left TO to head to Van...it flew right over OS harbour and she saw familiar landmarks and then saw Manitoulin Island....another favourite for our family. Speaking of J...Sarah and her dad and I are relieved to have had contact with our J...and all is well ...she is in PNG and with her love...
Yesterday I taught in Markdale and met 26 of the staff that work there in my code blue training sessions.... 1 hour session ...repeated 4 times in a row... !! That's it for now... We've done 8 days since March... like this.
I get to travel to the other hospitals in the region and see other perspectives. I enjoy that part.

Went to drumming tonight.. and learned another new song. It'll take a bit to get the hang of this one, yet I will eventually.. our group is about 6-8 drummers and that's a nice size for having some layering of sounds happening.

Friday is my last session (of 3) with the RNAO and I've enjoyed the experience of reviewing other Ontario nurses applications for fellowships. I volunteered to do this as I like to learn the background of projects... During the past 3 weeks a group of 3 of us...became reviewers for the Advanced Clinical Nursing Fellowships and each completed a Test Case that was also a real application.
The test allowed newbies like moi, and seasoned folks to complete the review then by inter rater reliability methods...they assessed the newbies for how close we were with the pro's... then we reached consensus and ultimately the final score... Yes the final mark is important...as they have approximately 50 applications for about 30 spots... and it's $12 - 15 K that each nurse will receive if they are the highest scoring applications.
The fellowships permits a nurse to persue a goal, with some deliverables for the organization she/he represents... The application must stand on it own and provide all the info required and listed on the application.
I've prepared 3 of these "fellowship" proposals for our staff in the past and it is laborious and rigorous...I needed to tighten my objectives up before they would reconsider my first application.... then we got the $12K and the next 2 were easier to complete... (successfully...I might add).. so I know the other side of the assessment process now... and it is equally thorough!!
That's it from here... for now.
